Staffordshire exporters showcased in MPs’ report backing SME growth

1 min read

Three Staffordshire businesses have been highlighted in a new parliamentary report celebrating the role of small exporters in driving economic growth across the UK.

Chesterton-based Broxap, Tamworth’s PI-KEM and Incap, whose UK headquarters are in Newcastle-under-Lyme, feature in The Power of Place, a report published by the International Trade and Investment All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) in partnership with the Chartered Institute of Export & International Trade

The campaign showcases SME exporters chosen by five MPs from across the UK as examples of businesses creating jobs, strengthening local economies and competing in international markets.

Adam Jogee, MP for Newcastle-under-Lyme and vice-chair of the APPG, and Tamworth MP Sarah Edwards were among the five politicians involved in selecting businesses from their constituencies.

Family-owned manufacturer Broxap was recognised for designing and manufacturing street furniture and public realm products used across the UK, while electronics manufacturer Incap, which is listed on the Nasdaq stock exchange, was highlighted for exporting to customers across Europe and North America while supporting ‘mission-critical industries’.

Science and technology company PI-KEM was selected for its global exports to more than 40 countries, supplying specialist materials for scientific research in fields including nanotechnology, photonics, hydrogen technology and energy storage.

The report argues that SMEs have an important role to play in boosting UK growth and exports.

Mike Reader MP, chair of the APPG for International Trade and Investment, said: “I’ve seen first-hand where Britain’s economic success begins: in every village, town, city and region of the UK. The businesses featured in this report show that world-class exporters aren’t just found in major financial centres; they’re being built up and down the country.

“If we’re serious about growth, we need to back more SMEs to take their expertise beyond our shores and into global markets. I call on the next Government to make this a priority.”
