A Stoke-on-Trent film company is moving into the historic Spode Works as the former pottery site continues its transformation into a hub for creative and technology businesses.
Inspired Film and Video – celebrating 20 years in business – will relocate to larger premises at the site, where it will join the growing createch community.
The move will also support the appointment of two new members of staff and give the company additional space for production, editing, animation and podcast recording.
Inspired was established in 2006 and has remained based in Stoke-on-Trent throughout its development.
Its arrival at Spode adds another established local business to the regeneration of one of the city’s most important industrial landmarks.
Business Development Director Mike McDonald said the move carried personal significance because he grew up close to the site and his grandmother, Dorothy, and her five sisters worked at Copeland’s during the 1950s and 1960s.
He said: “Moving to Spode Works feels like coming home in more ways than one.
“Spode Works was an important part of my family’s life and of the wider community, so it is incredibly special to now be building the next stage of the company’s future in the same place.”
The former pottery works has increasingly become home to creative, digital and cultural organisations as part of efforts to bring new employment and activity into the city centre site.
Inspired’s new premises include a dedicated multi-camera podcasting area alongside expanded workspace for its team.
Managing Director Daniel Stubbs said: “Remaining in Stoke-on-Trent and becoming part of the next chapter in the story of Spode Works is extremely important to us.
“The move gives us room to grow, welcome new staff and work alongside other ambitious creative and technology businesses.”
