The CEO of a wholesale supplier has been nominated as one of the top 100 most influential people within the builders’ merchant supply sector.
Ian Doherty, of Stone-based Owlett-Jaton, has made the list of Top 100 Supplier Influencers across the sector put together by the Builders Merchants Federation (BMF) and Builders Merchants News (BMN) publication.
He said: “I am delighted that I, and Owlett-Jaton, have been recognised as a key supplier to the builders’ merchant trade.
“Builders’ merchants are a vital part of the supply chain, and making the list of Top 100 Supplier Influencers is a great achievement for the whole Owlett-Jaton team.
“It is a privilege to be voted for and included within such a strong list of individuals.”
Owlett-Jaton, which has its headquarters at Stone Business Park, is the UK and Ireland’s leading wholesale supplier of fasteners, fixings, and associated products to the distributor and merchant trade.
The company works closely with many buying groups within the sector and are key suppliers to a vast number of builders’ merchants across the UK.
To be nominated, individuals must be still working within the industry and meet key criteria in four categories.
Following an extensive career in distributive businesses, Ian joined Owlett-Jaton in 2016. He is also currently Chairman of the British and Irish Association of Fastener Distributors and their representative to the European Federation of Distributor Associations. He is also the fasteners and fixings expert for the Builders Merchant Building Index.
John Newcomb, CEO of the BMF, said: “After the success of last year’s Top 100 Merchant Influencers we’re delighted to be partnering with BMN again in 2023 to highlight the achievements of the Top 100 Supplier Influencers.
“Shining a light on individuals who go above and beyond in their service to our industry, this new accolade will reflect the positive influence each of the 100 individuals selected has both on the people around them and on the wider building materials industry.”
Ian and the other nominees will be featured in a commemorative brochure and be invited to a celebratory gala dinner in May.
