Advanced Innovative Engineering (AIE) has been named a finalist for the Innovation, Science and Technology Award at the 2024 Staffordshire Chambers Business Awards.

This category, sponsored by wealth management experts, Ironmarket Wealth, celebrates businesses that utilise innovation and cutting edge science and technology to drive product development and business growth.

AIE has established itself as a prominent figure in the engineering sector since its inception in 2012, particularly in developing Wankel rotary engines. The company has demonstrated a strong commitment to research and development, investing over £5 million since 2019 to advance the state of the art in rotary engine technology.

This commitment is set to continue, with plans to invest an additional £2 million in R&D in 2024 alone. This substantial investment underscores AIE’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of innovation and maintaining its leadership in the industry

AIE has gained recognition for its remarkable contributions to rotary engine technology, setting new benchmarks in performance, power density, and fuel efficiency. The company has revolutionised engine design and manufacturing by leveraging advanced computer modelling techniques, including Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), combustion simulations, topology optimisation, and thermal analysis software.

Departing from traditional manufacturing methods, AIE adopts advanced additive manufacturing techniques. This technology allows for the production of complex engine components with geometries that were previously unattainable, reducing weight without compromising strength or durability. The outcome is an engine design that offers world-leading performance, power density, and fuel efficiency.

The winner of the award will be announced at the highly-anticipated Gala Awards evening, taking place on Thursday, 4 July at the Doubletree by Hilton, Festival Park.
