Major new employment hub could create 3,500 jobs

Plans have been lodged for a major new logistics and employment hub in Staffordshire which could create up to 3,500 jobs.

Indurent has submitted an outline planning application to Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council for the scheme on land southeast of Junction 16 of the M6 motorway.

The plans propose a state-of-the-art industrial and logistics hub with approximately 2.3 million sq ft of employment space across six development zones.

Designed to provide workspace for high-growth sectors, the scheme is expected to generate up to 3,500 direct jobs with an additional 1,200 roles supported through construction and the regional supply chain.

The development will also include a dedicated lorry park to accommodate up to 200 lorries, aimed at reducing current parking congestion on the A500.

New walking and cycling routes and extensive woodland planting will also be introduced, including over 100,000 new trees and shrubs planted on site, to enhance the natural landscape.

Damien Holdstock, Planning Director at Indurent, said: “Our plan represents a major investment in the West Midlands’ regional economy, delivering thousands of new jobs, while taking a landscape-led approach that opens up access to green space for the local community.

“The proposals follow extensive public consultation, and we are grateful to all those who contributed valuable feedback which has helped to shape our plans. We look forward to continuing to work closely with the community and local stakeholders as the plans progress.”

The site is included as a draft allocation for employment development in Newcastle-under-Lyme Council’s emerging Local Plan, which is currently under review by the Planning Inspectorate. If adopted, the plan would confirm the site’s allocation for this purpose.

Indurent was launched in July last year following a merger of Industrials REIT and St Modwen Logistics.

According to information on display during a recent public consultation, the firm hopes to have the first unit ready for occupation in late 2029 with the build out complete around 2033/34.

  1. Thank you for this advertorial Hayley, this truly is the lowest form of journalism and is is clearly a paid for article. Maybe mention some of the negatives to this disastrous proposal, for locals, potential workers and all of the other issues such a development will bring. Please remember you members who fund the Chamber and not just those who briefly line your pockets.

      Thank you for your message.
We welcome feedback from all our readers whether it is good or bad. This wasn’t a paid-for article, but we are happy to speak to anyone with views on the proposals who would be willing to go on the record for a follow-up story.
